SURVEYTECH NOW A DISTRIBUTOR FOR GEOSLAM

  • We’re delighted to announce a new partnership between Surveytech and GeoSLAM to bring their incredible range of scanners to our customers.

GeoSLAM is a truly innovative company with a mission to digitalise 3D data capture, make it faster, easier, and make it possible to scan places that would have been impossible to scan before. Based out of Nottingham, they’ve been pushing the envelope of what’s possible ever since they first developed the technology with CSIRO, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation.

    Wham, Bam, Thank You SLAM

It’s the same technology that’s powering the automated vehicle revolution and advances in robotics since the 80s, now available in the palm of your hand. SLAM stands for Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping and essentially amounts to the combination of a device being able to map its surroundings and understand exactly where it is in relation to that.

What it means in practice is the combination of a sophisticated algorithm and an advanced laser scanner that work in tandem. Yet despite this technology being pretty complicated, to the end user it couldn’t be simpler and allows tasks to be completed in minutes that would previously have taken days.

We recently had a trial of the range, and you can watch it in action here:

The device I’m using in the video is the Zeb Revo RT, but there are a few different scanners on offer to fit your application and budget.

Whether you want to create floorplans, monitor construction progress, scan to BIM or work in a variety of environments including mines, there is a combination of hardware and software to fit the purpose.

You can always get in touch to discuss your project and offer advice, but just as a general guide, here are some of the features of the different scanners:

     ZEB Go

Handheld laser scanning for everyone - the most affordable of the range.

Used indoors or in underground mines (helpfully has an IP64 rating). Great for construction, BIM and rapid creation of floorplans.

    ZEB Revo RT

Realtime processing so you can see the scan as you work (see above). Again mostly for indoor use but with a 30m range it will have no problem with external elevations.

    ZEB Horizon

With a 100m range, this is perfect for exterior as well as interior work and you can speed up your scan time by mounting it on a vehicle or UAV

As well as being available for sale, you can rent them from us too. If you have any questions, get in touch and one of the team will be happy to help.
