Machine Control Webinar

Machine Control is a technology that is transforming the operation of construction sites across the UK right now, but what’s it like to work with?

Whether you’re an experienced user or you’ve just heard it talked about and want to know more, this webinar is for you. We’ll hear perspectives varying from company owners to support engineers and operators to give you insight into what it’s really like to use machine control in the field. You’ll learn where the technology has come from, how it’s being used now and how to get the best from it - with honest views on the benefits and the challenges.

In this webinar we’ll draw on the knowledge and experience of leading industry figures with both strategic and practical insights. Ehsan Eklas, CCO and founder of Unicontrol has featured in Forbes’ 30under30 class of 2021 Europe list for his creation and expansion of the innovative Unicontrol business. He’ll give a practical oversight of how machine control works in practice and draw on examples from across Europe and the world of how the system is being used. Then we’ll hear from Paul Tuohy, Digital Plant Manager of Flannery’s - one of the UK’s largest Plant Hire firms - about some of the successes, challenges and opportunities for this technology. And finally, for a view from behind the levers, we’ll have Patrick Quinn of P.Quinn Construction who can tell us not only about using it practically, but also managing his company as he adds to the Machine Control capabilities of his fleet.

Topics to be discussed include:
- How does Machine control work?
- Is Machine Control accurate?
- What is 2D and 3D Machine Control?
- How do I dig gradients?
- How do I get drawings into the system?
- How do I change buckets and navigate?
- What are the benefits of adopting the technology?
- What are the challenges?
- How do you prepare drawings to be used in the system?
- How does it work with telematics?

Their short presentations will be followed by a question and answer session to allow all of our attendees to draw on the unique wealth of knowledge and experience we’ve assembled for this month’s webinar.

About Flannery Plant Hire

Flannery Plant hire is a name that needs no introduction to those working in construction in the UK, but here is their story in their own words:

We’re nothing but proud to have grown our business from one machine (a JCB 3C Excavator) in 1972 to almost 5,000 units in 2022. We now partner with world-leading manufacturers including Cat, Komatsu, JCB, Volvo, Bomag and Wacker Neuson.

From our original base next to the Oval cricket ground, we now operate from a network of nine depots in Aberdeen, Northumberland, Dublin, Manchester, Birmingham, Bicester, Newport, Leighton Buzzard and, of course, our purpose-built Head Office depot next to Wembley Stadium.
